Linux guests loose network connection after broadcast storm - Windows guests work fine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone,

we have 2 prebuilt Linux VMs that loose their network connection. All other virtual machines are windows based.

The 2 servers are not on the same host but connected to the same switch.

They have the same subnet like the clients (yes i know i have to change that) and sometimes (always different ports) we get:

    W 01/15/17 06:55:37 00332 FFI: Excessive Broadcasts. See help.

Then these 2 linuxs machines loose their network connection and need a reboot to become working again.

No eventlog entry. No log entry on the linux machines (except the loss of connectivity). Newest drivers.

    Anyone else having this problems?

    The machines are:

    Ferrari Officemaster Gate
3PAR SPOCC (which run flawless on vmware esxi)

    Thank you for your answers

    Host systems:

    DL380 G8

    Blade BL465c g8

  • Still having these problems? No one has broadcast storms on their networks (and a linux machine) ? ;)

I tried to configure the switches to limit broadcast. But still does not work. As soon as there is an network loop (which is detected but too late) the machines go down.
