Server Hardware Specs for 500 users authenticating

What would be the Hardware requrirement for a server which can authenticate a company of 500 devices and a company of 250 devices?
Like how much ram it would need
Hard drive
Processors
etc etc
I have been seraching this but i cannot find anything that help me to size the server. It would be a server 2008R2

I think you really don't need to worry about the device authentication, because these device doesn't requests the authentication at the same time and the basic hardware could deals these basic requests from these devices.
If these hardware couldn't meet the requirements of these device, you could upgrade these firmware and hardware.
For server 2008r2 system requirements:
Processor performance depends not only on the clock frequency of the processor, but also on the number of processor cores and the size of the processor cache.
RAM
Minimum :512mb
Maximum:32 GB (for Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard) or 2 TB (for Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise, Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter, and Windows Server 2008 R2 for Itanium-Based Systems).
Disk:
Minimum:32GB
