win7 64bit upgrade detect vista 32 bit instead of 64bit RRS feed

  • i have vista ultimate 64bit. i'm trying to upgrade to win7 ultimate 64bit. but installation program detect that i have 32bit. i've checked this and i deffenately have vista 64 bit.

    system type       64-bit operating system

    does enyone know what's wrong?

  • Hi,

    Check the Windows package  because you will need at least Vista Service Pack 1 and make sure that  your computer meets the system requirements and use the upgrade advisor to verify your PC ( hardware and software) and tell you what is going to work and what will not and try again the upgrade .

  • Please check that you have a 64bit version of the instalation disk
