DPm 2016 and Deduplication RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have been trying to find out if I need to run DPM server in Hyper V to get the dedupe feature.  The articles that I have read point to using a HyperV.  Can someone please confirm?  Can I just use DPM and Dedupe from the physical server itself and not hyper V if someone has done so.

    Thank you.

  • Hello,

Check this blog on how to configure deduplication with DPM 2016. And yes DPM will need to be a virtual machine on your Hyper-V Host, with DPM storage VHDX files stored on an SMB 3.0 share with deduplication enabled.

    Hope that helps
