DPM 2012 SP1 - Windows Server 2012 VM incremental backup RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm backing up VMs running both Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2008 R2 in an Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V cluster. When creating a recovery point for a Windows Server 2012 VM, it looks like their differencing disk is being fully backed up almost every time the recovery point is created. This morning I created a recovery point manually and it did a backup the size of the differencing disk. I then waited a few minutes to create another recovery point and it seems like the incremental was working properly as the size was very small (85MB vs 14.7GB).

Any idea what might be causing this? Would it be a setting for VSS on the Hyper-V host?

    Thanks,

    Mathieu
