Word 2010 - initial blank page problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I want to start with at blank document for a new file, the default "blank" pages has a blue box in the middle of the page. How do I get rid of it?  Here is what is written in the box (which is 2" X 5.5"):  [Type a quote from the document of the summary of an interesting point. You can position the text box anywhere in the document. Use the Drawing Tools tab to change the formatting of the pull quote text box.]   I have probably inadvertenly done something wrong, but can not figure out out to get rid of this - nor can one of our admin people.

  • I haven't seen this before, but maybe something (or someone) modified your normal.dotm. You can open it and remove the box or simply delete the file if there are no valueable settings stored there (Macros for instance).

The template is located in the default template path of the user: %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates

If you assigned a workgroup template path, then the normal.dotm from there is used.

Edit: What you see is a text box (Insert|Text Box)
