Homegroup lost after upgrading Win7pro to Win8pro RRS feed

  • Please see http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itpronetworking/thread/6c115335-1218-4061-ac31-def82da2851b/ for reference...

I have the same problem, "Chuck on Bigboy has created a home network. Do you want to join?"

    History:

Bigboy:: was upgraded from Win7-Pro (64-bit) to Win-8 Pro (64-bit).  That is, the computer asking to join the homegroup IS the homegroup creator.

I do not get the option to leave the homegroup, nor the option to view the password.  The Homegroup troubleshooter completes, with "Connect to homegroup" "Not Fixed".

I've tried removing all files from C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking" and stopping the HomeGroup services.  (I also rebooted after these operations.)  LittleMan:: (a laptop) was also upgraded, and asks to join the homegroup, which, since the password is lost, I cannot do.  My daughter's Mac can no longer access the homegroup, of course.

    Can anyone help?

    Dr Chuck
