Can we allow the managed apps in Intune to be auto-updated from Internet? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm thinking to auto-update all the apps that I deployed through Intune, is it possible to configure them to be auto-updated over Internet?

    TIA

  • Hello,

There are several app types supported by Intune, and you can check the behavior of updates as below.

For LOB app, you should upload the new version of the app to Intune for updating. Please refer to the following article for more details.

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/apps-add

  • Win32 apps will not be updated automatically unless the app itself has such feature (to auto update)

Office 365 ProPlus apps can be configured to update automatically if that's something you desire but that's something that's happening on the client side post installation. :-)

  • "Thanks for bringing clarity to the matter, could you give me a hint about keeping chrome extensions' updates in Intune setup."

Chrome extensions are updated automatically within Chrome and is not something Intune 'cares' about once the extension is added :-)

  • You will need to be specific about what type of apps you are talking about and what platform. Win32 apps, store apps? Windows, iOS, Android? :-)

Windows Store Apps can obviously be updated automatically over the Internet.
