How to fix actuals reported on summary tasks RRS feed

  • Question

  • Despite a gazillion warnings, one of our planners assigned resources to summary tasks. To make matters worse, he also assigned some of these resources to the underlying tasks. The resources reported actuals on both the summary and the underlying tasks.

The timesheet manager caught this and rejected the actuals on summary tasks. The resource then reset these actuals to zero and resubmitted the timesheets. However, the timesheets don't show up in the Approval Center of either the task or the timesheet manager.

Until now, my motto has been: if you touch summary tasks, you're on your own and I cannot and will not help you. While this has worked well in previous companies I worked for, in this case it would seriously damage the user acceptance of EPM. Hence my question: is there a way to push these timesheets through somehow?

  • I would create a new summary task and then indent the old summary task under it.  Then I would rename the old summary task to something descriptive.
