Cant Start up VM in Hyper V RRS feed

  • Question

  • Windows 10 Host

    Created VM using Action>New>VM

    All default settings except Installations Options changed to Bootable windows10 .iso

    When trying to connect to VM pop up

    "The session was disconnected. If you want to continue, try to connect again. If the problem persist, contact your system administrator.

    Would you like to try to reconnect?"

  • Hi,

    Just to check. Do you see this error after you installed VM or before? If you see after then you need to add a password to the local account on that virtual machine. If that is not the case then check if you have Enhanced session or basic session? Try to switch to basic session and check if you can access.

  • Hello,

    This is the expected behavior of the Server when it is not able to find the RDP service on the server.

    Try to check if you are able to use "Remote Desktop connection" to connect to any other machine.

    Windows uses the same files named mstscax.dll to help the connection to the VM just the way we initiate a remote session.

    Check if the MSTSC works for you if does not then the remote desktop connection need to be fixed to get this working.

    regards,

    Nick.

  • Hi ThHz7,

    1. Please check if the win10 is patched fully;

    2. Please check if there are any third-party anti-virus applications running on the Hyper-V host, if yes, please turn it off and check if it could help;

    3. Could you connect to other VMs in the Hyper-V, does the win10 .iso valid?

    4. If the above method doesn't work, also check if disable TCP task offloading could help:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/drivers/network/using-registry-values-to-enable-and-disable-task-offloading

    5. By the way, "The Basic/Enhanced session button greyed out." Could you provide a screenshot of it?

    Best Regards,

    Anne

  • Hello,

    Have you tried to restart the VMMS service. You may just try to stop and start the service from the Hyper-V Console.

    Regards,
    Nick

  • Hi TyHz7,

    1. When the issue occurs, is there any action taken before the error occurred.

    2. Please run sfc /scannow and dism /sanhealth on the host to check if there are corrupted or missing system files;

    3. Please try re-install the Hyper-V role, check if it could work.

    Best Regards,

    Anne

  • Hi,

    1. Start VM > Connect > error.

    2. "Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations"

    3. Reinstalled , still same issue.

    Just to check if you get any progress with your issue.

    As it has been asked above, when the issue occurs, is there any action taken before the error occurs?

    Besides, is there any error in the event log?

    Best Regards,
