Assigned a group by mistake to the Project Server Admin RRS feed

  • Question

  • There is a group on PS2010 called "XYZ" which has deny permissions on server settings, tasks, resource cetner etc.

By mistake i assigned this group to the PS Admin. No the PS Admin cannot even hit the server settings link, not the tasks link niether the Resource center link.

Is there any other way i can get this group removed from the user?

  • In addition to my above solution to your issue, there is a chance that you wont be able restore database or don't want to do this activity. there is another simpler solution that to add any other PWA user into admin group and then login using this user to PWA with Admin permissions and change the other Admin group issu.

you can use the following powershell command to add user to admin group:

    New-SPProjectSiteAdministrator -AdminAccount <String> -Url <String> [-AssignmentCollection <SPAssignmentCollection>]

    Example:

    New-SPProjectSiteAdministrator -AdminAccount domain\user -Url http://servername/pwa

    hope this helps.

  • Hi,

are you able to access the PWA now ? or was PS Admin was your only admin user?

You can restore your Project server database from latest working farm backup of your project server environment. This way you will have your administrator with all administrative permissions back on the system.

let us know if this works for you.

  • On Khurram's sound advice, You can have the System Account/Farm account to update the Admin account.

    Thanks.
