Although you can create an enterprise Lookup Table by creating a custom Outline Code in Microsoft Project 2010 and then importing it into Project Server, you cannot edit an existing Lookup Table without using PWA.  Hope this helps.

  • Hi there

Following on from Dale's sound advice, there is another option (maybe not easier!) and that is programmatically using the PSI with custom code:

    Lookup table web service:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/websvclookuptable.lookuptable_di_pj14mref.aspx

    Update Lookup table method:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg210615.aspx

If this was an approach you wanted to look into, take a look at the Project SDK:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms512767.aspx

    Thanks

  • Is there a fast and easy way to enter large amounts of values (several hundred) into a lookup table?

The existing PWA interface is not very useful with entering large numbers of multi-level values.

    For example:

    Industry Experience

         goods

             Construction

                    H

                    M

                    L

Its possible to copy and paste from Word but the indentation levels aren't maintained. There also doesn't appear to be any multi-selection option available to apply the same action to multiple rows.

  • you might try in the client.  You'll note that you can modify a custom field
in Project Pro, and then simply import the field to the enterprise from the
    Custom Fields interface.

  • Hi Andrew,

this looks promising.  There is an Import Lookup Table button which intrigues me.  Unfortunately the Edit Lookup table for [custom field] dialogue box is read only for some reason...

It's strange since I have permissions to edit the field in PWA.

Is it possible that the client version isn't allowed to edit enterprise custom fields?
