Office 2003 documents always open in Read-Only Mode RRS feed

    Hi All,

    We have a sharepoint farm, where we have a number of excel documents (2003  version). The documents open properly in browser for the first time. But when we try to open them again in the browser, they open in Read-Only mode. This is very frustrating to the business users.

    The users are able to check out the document, but when they click on the document link, it is opened in Read-Only mode.

    Any suggestions on how to avoid this?

    Given your sig ("for getting started with SharePoint 2010"), are you using a SP 2010 product?

    Hi, Document libraries, collections of files that can be shared with team members based on the Web Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services. In my case it was a list of files to a Web application that was a list of SharePoint documents to the user is authorized to read and edit. This list was applied using a custom SharePoint web service, covering in my next post for SharePoint (Create custom SharePoint web service).
