IE9 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I haven't been able to use the internet for the past 2 days because I'm constantly been redirected to weird esites. My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate. McAfee tech told me to uninstall IE9 and install instead IE8. Easier said than done. How do you uninstall IE9 and then install IE8? I tried to install IE8 for Windows 7 and at the end of the installation get an error message saying the my pc OS is not supported. I tried other OS listed in the drop down window and all said the same thing. That's absurd, my browser actually is IE9. So, how do I get rid of IE9 and then install IE8? Thanks

  • You may be experiencing DNS poisoning.  This has nothing to do with IE9 as your entire system is probably compromised.

First, at an elevated command prompt (run as Administrator), type ipconfig /flushdns.  Next, check your hosts file located at \Windows\system32\drivers\etc.  Make sure you don't have any weird entries there.
