"Online services" error from vista upgrade advisor RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm helping a customer upgrade to vista from xp home on an hp. he's getting an error from the upgrade advisor that there's an issue with "online services". the manufacturers is listed as microsoft but i can't find any way of dealing with the problem. he's got a  number of "online services" in the start menu but they're for the most part references to web sites. aol just results in "thank you for your interest in aol". he's not using any of them. i can't find any references to this problem elsewheee. i've tried uninstalling msn and anything to do with it such as msn messenger but the problem persists. thanks for any help.

  • check in add/remove programs if there's anything related, remove programs starting in msconfig, check any non-microsft services that might be starting. good luck.

  • Thanks for the reply. i've had a look at the add/remove programs list and i can't find anything that fits the bill. it's for a customer so i have limited access to the machine and so limited opportunity for trial and error. i'll keep looking.
