Loading time when selecting a large table RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I select a large table from my SQL Server, it takes a very long time to load before I can start building my query.  Is there a way I can limit how much data it will download before it begins?  Such as specifying a date range or particular filters on a column?

  • The UI will only wait for 200 rows to download. We do not have a way to customize this number. You can choose to manually edit the formula to apply additional filters, but that won't likely affect your preview speed - because we'd be waiting for 200 filtered items.

It maybe interesting to diagnose what is actually causing the slow down. Is it the sql server itself? Network? Rendering the preview (on very wide tables with many thousand columns, the preview can take a while to render)?
