SIP Address showing in Missed Call Emails RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

We have a problem where when a user received a missed call from a PSTN Connection, the SIP Address of the user is provided rather than their email address. In our organisation we use a different domain for Skype for Business than Email.

Missed call messages where the phone number cannot be looked up will just show the incoming Phone Number.

Is there anything that can be done in Exchange or Skype for Business to resolve the issue?

  • Hi lrarbin,

If I understand correctly, SIP address is differ from you SMTP address in your topology.when you missing a PSTN call, the missed call message just show the incoming Phone number,do you want to convert the phone number to user sip adrress like the” xxxx@contoso.com “?

if so ,you should fill the phone number to user information in AD like the following picture.

The front end server will sync the address book information with the active directory servers for user information every 5 minutes.

By default synchronize polling interval is 5 minutes but if you have made changes Please check the Get-CsUserAddressBookConfiguration cmdlet.

The frontend server will generate a new address book at 1.30am daily (once a day).

If you want to missed call show the SMTP address, you should set the SMTP address is same as the SIP address.

Because SFB Address book is a different set of address book from exchange address book. Skype for business uses the address book defined in SIP profile.

  • Hello Leon-Lu,

    Thanks for your reply.

In our environment our SIP Addresses are different to our Email Addresses, this is because we only use a single SIP Domain, but have many SMTP Domains (100-200). To configure SfB with all the different Domains would be a massive undertaking requiring complex certificates, load balancer settings etc.

At the moment Voicemail messages are showing the calling User's SIP Address (is a reverse lookup is possible) from PSTN Calls and Voicemail messages from Skype for Business calls.

Our Business would like the Voicemail messages to show the Calling user's SMTP address, instead of there SIP Address. Would this be possible?

    Thanks

  • It appears that this is a limitation of Azure Voicemail. So while the issue was addressed in Exchange UM On Prem. There isn't a fix for Azure Voicemail as it isn't aware of the user's email address.
