  • Hi,

    Sorry for the long delay.

    1. KB2993651 is a replacement of the following update KB2982791. See:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2982791

Thus please first check if KB2982791 is installed. You can uninstall it and again see if KB2993651 could be installed after reboot.

You can download it to install it manually:

MS14-045: Description of the security update for kernel-mode drivers: August 27, 2014

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2993651/en-us

2&3. Update KB2962409 is a rollup update (Jun.) See:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2962409/en-us

However in rollup update KB2975719 (Aug.) it mentioned to uninstall KB2962409 before installing as a mitigation of Known issue 1. See:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2975719/en-us

And our first update (KB2993651) is required so please first try to get the KB2993651 installed. Then please first install the following roll up update KB2919355 (Apr.) as it is a requirement of KB2975719 (Aug.) and KB2962409 (Jun.)

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355

    4. KB2990967 is an update for OneDrive desktop app. Are you using it on your computer? You can test to uninstall OnDrive and reinstall to see if the update could be installed after.

Some versions of the OneDrive desktop app for Windows do not update automatically

  • Try starting a CMD window as administrator and typing these commands, which will strive to correct corruption in the servicing database and restore Windows Update functionality:

    DISM  /Online  /Cleanup-Image  /RestoreHealth

    SFC  /SCANNOW

It's entirely possible Windows Update will work again normally after you complete the above.

If you're concerned about what they do (as you should be when a stranger tells you to run a particular command), I recommend doing an internet search to learn more about them.

  • Hi,

My first suggestion is to try a Clean Boot to see if it is caused by third party application:

    Steps could be found here:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

In Clean Boot, please try to run Windows Update again to see if updates could be installed.

If still failed, please provide the name of updates which are failing to be installed - if there are a lot of updates, please provide a screenshot of them - you may not able to paste a screenshot in reply yet as you are using a new account. Instead you can upload to OneDrive and share the link with us (remove http:// if you cannot attach a link either).
