Word 2010 - How to combine Appendix style, Navigation display and page numbering RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want styles for Appendices (Appendix A, A.1, A.1.1) that I can use to page number with the appendix number prefixed (e.g., A-1) and also see the appendix in the Navigation pane.

If I create a new Appendix style based on (no style) as suggested in some forums, and make my paragraph format Outline Level 1 - the appendix heading print nicely in the TOC and the Navigation pane.  However, the numbering is not recognized for chapter-style page numbers - I get the numbering of the previous, Heading 1, section (e.g., 6-1 instead of A-1, with restart numbering).

If I reformat Heading 7 to display Appendix etc., as suggested in other forums, I can get the right page numbers and can format the toc so things work, but nothing shows up in the Navigation Pane.

Is there any way to do it all?

  • Thank you!  This information, plus right-clicking in the navigation pane to display levels 6-9, is exactly what I needed and even more than I knew I wanted.
