Computer locked up after installing steady state RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a friend (thank god it's not me) who recently installed steady state. Her computer is now locked up. A "user name: and password:" screen appears on boot. Safe mode boot has the same screen come up and there doesn't seem to be any way around this. The only post I've found so far for the same problem deals with a Vista OS machine and the replys suggest that it's a Vista problem (NOT) and using a safe mode start (NOT AGAIN). Can anybody offer any suggestions other than reformatting C:? Perhaps there's a default user name/password. This machine runs on XP. Don't know if it's home edition or pro.
    Thanks

Hi ebarr, thanks for the post. This issue can occur if the option "Turn on the Welcome screen" is not enabled under Windows SteadyState – Set Computer Restrictions – Other settings. You can manually enter your username and password on the log on screen and see if you can log on the computer. After that, you can open SteadyState and change the related restrictions. Hope this helps!
