Out of Office not working for Child domains RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,
I use Exchaneg 2007 with Windows server 2003.
I have a main domain: CMP and 2 child domains: CMPUK and CMPES
this morning I used my out of office assistant from outside the company (I am on the main domain) and I did succeed to enable my OoO.
As I got some users from the child domain complaining about not beeing able to set the OoO.
I first requested them to open a web broswer and type:
    AUTODISCOVER = OK
    https://autodiscover.company.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    OOF URL = OK
    https://autodiscover.company.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
Then I asked for the test E-mail autoconfiguration and it did not worked. The log tab mentionned that the https://autodiscover.company.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml FAILED.
I decided as administrator, to create me an account on that child domain and I observed the same behaviour through my Outlook 2007 connecting to microsoft Exchange using HTTP (basic authentication)
The error message is: "Your Out of Office settings cannot be displayed, because the server is currently unavailable. Try again later."
I closed Outlook and switch profile back to mine (on main domain). I tried to enable my OoO again and I got the same error message!!
Certificate is OK. It does work internaly and I am sure that on the main domain it works. It seems that only child domains are facing problems.
Could you please help me to configure the OoO for those child domains? and explain me why I then got stuck with my OoO that worked perfectly before.
    Many thanks in advance,
    Graig

Run following command test out the Auto Discover settings

     Test-OutlookWebServices -ClientAccessServer

Please check SRV record in external DNS .

  • Hello,

    I first rechecked everything internaly!

I created 3 excahnge accounts on the main domain and the 2 other child ones.

When I open a windows sessions with any of those accounts and set up Outlook (2007)  + use the Out of Office Assitant without any problem.

If I open a windows session with the main domain for instance and use a differente account than the windows one (on the main domain or not) I can not set the Out of Office.

--> Could you please explain me why??

I will be later on checking externaly!

For the answered you sent me (Big thanks!!).

    I have Outlook 2007 SP2 installed

I can open the  https://autodiscover.company.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx (It only prompt for credential but can open it)

The internal and external  URL equal to: https://autodiscover.company.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx

--> If you think that it regards SRV record in external DNS, could you please provide me further information.

    Many Thanks,

    Graig
