  • Question

  • Hi experts,

    • When I create the fiscal periods "Standard calendar year" in project server 2013 its create the fiscal periods normally but our organization not using the January to December fiscal year, we are using the Ist July to 31 June fiscal year, therefore I want to create the fiscal periods from 1st July to 31 June, when I create the fiscal period for that duration then the project server gives me an error “Project Web App fiscal periods are not allowed to have duplicate names, gaps or overlaps between adjoining period start and end dates, or overlaps between adjoining fiscal years.“ Is it possible to change the existing or new Fiscal period from July 2016 to June  2017 if yes then how it is possible.need your help on urgent basis.

My Configuration for Fiscal period as follow

    Set Fiscal Year Creation Model

You can create fiscal periods according to several methods. You can use fiscal quarters (5,4,4, or 4,5,4, or 4,4,5 weeks); you can use 13 months with 4 weeks per month; or you can use a standard calendar year. Select the method used by your company, and then complete the parameters. For other fiscal period methods, choose the closest and then edit the monthly end dates in the grid on the previous page.

  • Hi,

If you kept the old fiscal periods, you'll have overlap periods (ie from jul to dec) so you'll get this error message.

Did you try to delete the old fiscal period definition and recreate it? I just tested to create fiscal period with your settings and it worked well.

    Hope this helps,

  • When you go to "fiscal periods" in the server settings in PWA, you can

    1. Choose the year (2017 for example, if already defined, you can remove it)
    2. Clic on "define"
    3. Then pick up the first day to the first period
    4. Select the type of period (454) and the prefix
    5. Validate

Then it will create all the fiscal periods:

Note that if the previous fiscal year (2016) ends on july 1st, the next one cannot start on the same day, and you'll get the overlap error message. The fiscal years manually created

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi,

One more question if i deleted the defined fiscal period like for 2015,2016 and 2016,is there is any effect on the existing my 500 projects that fall in the fiscal 2015,2016 and 2017.

  • I would say no, there should be no effect. The fiscal periods are just a dimension used to calculate data along the time. That being said, it might require to publish again the projects to get the appropriate data along the new fiscal periods. You should test it on a test environment first.

    Hope this helps,
