Which certificate can Authenticator use? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello.

I want to use Authenticator for iOS to access office 365.

The domain I use on O365 is WS-Federated or SAML federated with IdP.

When I use Online Service Gate as IdP, I can use Authenticator successfully.

(SoftBank Technology Online Service Gate is listed here https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/connect/active-directory-aadconnect-federation-compatibility#softbank )

The certificate necessary for authentication with OSG is placed at

Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management > Configuration Profiles.

But when I try to use Centrify as IdP instead of OSG,

Centrify shows an error “Unable to Launch Application”.

It seems that Authenticator can not show the certificate to Centrify, I suspect.

The certificate necessary for authentication with Centrify is placed at

Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management > Mobile Device Management.

So I want to know which Authenticator can handle certificate at

Settings > General > Profiles & Device Management > Mobile Device Management

    or not.

Could you please let me know the specification of Authenticator?

  • Hello Wayne,

    Thank you for your reply.

My understanding is based on the description on the  following page.

    https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/samueld/2016/07/19/adfs-certauth-aad-o365/

"Tip: The Authenticator application is required for Certificate Based authentication on iOS."

So could you please  teach me the place I can find the specification of Authenticator?
