Migrate Machine to other domain and user profile RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello everyone,

I have to change the domain of ~150machines.

The "problem" that I have to face is:

How to automate the domain change?
How to migrate the data from the userprofile of old domain inside the userprofile of the new domain.

I've read that with USMT integrated in SCCM it is possible to migrate profiles - but how I can make the change of the domain and the migration?

    Someone has already done it?

  • While this is possible with USMT, you're better off using a tool like ADMT that is designed specifically for this task.

  • Unfortunately I don't know it.

Is it possible to use it with SCCM?

Because basically MY problem is only to :
-DISJOIN MACHINE - JOIN TO NEW DOMAIN
-COPY ALL DESKTOP/... when the user log inside the machine (for example when he first logged with olddom\username and now with newdom\username)

  • This is exactly what ADMT is for. Use the right tool for the job. Just because you don't know how to use a hammer doesn't mean you should use a wrench to pound the nail in.

  • you're right.
but with this tools you can automate the fact that a machine change domain?
because the migration on the other domain is made by another departement.
They asked me, with SCCM to join the machines inside the new domain.
But if ADMT can do it - I will pass them the information.
