BITLOCKER BLUES

Question
-
I've been through the mill lately with trying to reclaim my terabyte SEAGATE desk top USB drive
I installed bitlocker, and saved the key on a usb flash drive, but didn't know all I should have and did what the instructions said to do. but I shouldn't have and now I can't access the drive. I have looked on line for help and been to every nook and cranny in my SONY VAIO VGN-CR 410E 64 BIT capable running 32 bit WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE software and all I get is not 'accessible'. HOW CAN I GET RID OF BITLOCKER AND ACCESS MY DATA?
I am very pragmatic and detail oriented and I am sure someone can give me very detailed instructions to do this. PLEASE
