DirSync login as email address RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am sure this question has been raised before but I have been unable to find a definitive guide...

users internall log in as domain.local\joeb or joeb@domain.local however I wish to add a new suffix into AD which I have done to match the email domain,

I then need users to be able to log in with their email address which is first name . lastname so joe.bloggs@domain.com.

Can someone either give me some simple steps or point me to a full guide on the process?

  • If I understand correctly you want different login name in on-prem and different in the cloud?

  • You will need to update all your on premise users UPN's to match the email. On premise, they should still be logging on with DOMAIN\sAMAccountName.

If these users are already provisioned in Azure, I don't believe DirSync does UPN renames. So you will need to run a powershell script to update your O365 users to match the on premise.
