FIM / SharePoint 2010 and SCOM 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have several recurring errors on a FIM ((Forefront Identity Manager 2010 R2 build 4.1.3441.0) server newly installed:

The mail sender could not send an outbound email.
This failure indicates a misconfiguration either with the mail server or with the specific mail.
Frequent, repeating instances of this event indicate a failure with the mail server.
If this event occurs alongside event 12, then this event indicates a failure with Exchange.
Infrequent instances of this event indicate misconfiguration of individual emails.

    1. Is it a real failure as apparently FIM is running and I do not get tickets.

    2. Is this error capture whatsoever by SCOM 2007? Which MP is it? Rules? Monitors?

    Already installed:

    -  Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager 2010 Management Pack version

    -  Microsoft Forefront Protection 2010 for SharePoint Management Pack version 11.1.301.0

    - Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products version 14.0.4744.1000

    - Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 version 14.0.4744.1000

    - SCOM 2007 R2 6.1.7221.110

but I do not get any alert !!!

  • The mail server address is incorrect or specific outbound email has invalid data.

Ensure that the mail sender is configured to connect to the correct mail server and that the outbound mail has correct email addresses.

The specific exception reported by the mail server is captured in the Forefront Identity Manager event log message.
