External email as the same internal email RRS feed

  • Question

  • I Have installed a SBS 2008 and I've configured the POP3 connector to receive emails from external server.

But I have a user (user A) that wont use the internal email server, only the email from external server. The problem is when internal users send emails to user A.

Is there any way to forward the emails from inside server to the external server?

  • The first thing that comes to mind is to set the forwarding in the users Exchange account to forward a copy of the email to the remote server.  Are the domain names different between the two servers?

  • You should really force the user to collect email from Exchange and drop the POP3 connector. The POP3 connector is only designed to ease the migration to SMTP delivery. If you insist then you have to configure Exchange to share the SMTP address space.

The user cannot have a mailbox internally though for that to work.
