Windows 10 crashes four times trying to install from the free link. I had to restore back to windows 7 from restore discs.

    Question

  • I have an ACER laptop that had windows installed on ti when I got it.  I tried to upgrade from the windows 10 link while it was free.  The install would get to the final stages and then could not continue so it would try to revert back to windows 7.  the computer would run all night and never get back to windows 7. I had to re install from my restore discs.  I put an early version of windows 8  on and now it wants to upgrade to windows8.1 but doesn't complete, so I am running the early win 8. but would like to try windows 10 again but no longer have the free win 10 link available.  What can I do now?

  • Hi,

The Windows 10 free upgrade offer ended on July 29, 2016.

Windows 10 will continue to be available for purchase, either on a device or as a full version of the software. A discounted "upgrade" version of Windows 10 will not be for sale.
