Track baseline vs. scheduled duration of parent tasks RRS feed

  • Question

  • I’m trying to see if I can get a “tracking gantt” view which shows the baseline schedule of a “parent” task compared to the actual schedule, in the same way that it compares the baseline and actual of the child tasks.  For example, below, you can easily see the baseline schedules of the Test1, Test2, and Test3 tasks, but the “Parent” task just shows how far along the task is:

If I rollup the parent task, the view looks like this:

My goal is to be able to show a whole set of high level tasks to management in such a way that they can see the original baseline schedule of the high level tasks compared to the current schedule.

Any ideas how to do this?

  • Just double click on the Gantt Chart.  In the Bart Styles Dialog Box, insert a new line, and configure it to appear for "Summary Task" then set it to span from the Baseline Start to the Baseline Finish.  You may also wish to configure it to appear on another row.

Do that, and you're good to go.
