Add a profile that isnt an AD user RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is it possible to create a new profile in the SSP without the user having an AD entry?

We are using the SSP profiles for a Phone Directory app and have some users who will never access SP but we will need to display their

    user information

  • Why dont you go for a Contact list instead SSP profile since you dont want to give access to user and only to display the user contact details. The list can be customized with many views...

Any way to create a profile in SSP you need user in machine or AD.

  • Hi themush1326,

Do the source of Phone Directory application belongs to Active Directory, LDAP or Business Data Catalog?

SharePoint could connect to these three kinds of user profiles.

Here is the reference about configure connection to profile services. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc263320(office.12).aspx

    Hope it can help.

    Best regards. Emir

  • these will be manualy entries, they are users not on our domain that will never access the site but we need a way to disply their contact info.

For users whom are in the AD the current process uses the SSP to retrieve them, we want to reuse that and not have to change the design

    to accomodate these new users
