SQL Server Virtual Machine vs. Windows Virtual Machines RRS feed

  • Hello,

    does anyboy know, if the "Azure SQL Server Virtual Machine" is in any way technically optimized for SQL-Server or different then an "Azure Windows Virtual Machines", where we would install SQL-Server on our own?

    The SQL Server Virtual Machines are optimized for data warehousing workloads with data sizes up to 1TB using clustered columnstore indexes. As for the information goes on the website, it is not very different.

    However, if you don’t have the SQL Platform, it is already integrated with the image.
