Delta import with DSEE RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

When trying to use the delta import feature with a DSEE (IPlanet/Sun Directory Server), we always get the error "no-start-full-import-required".

"ChangeLog enabled" is set to true, which should indicate that that changelog diff detection should work.

    What could be wrong ?

    BR,

  • If the enabling of the change log was a recent thing it could be one of two things

    1) You need to restart the DSEE service.

    2) You need to refresh the MA containers (so it can see the change log container)

The management agent for Sun and Netscape directory servers does not automatically detect changes made to the configuration of the Sun or Netscape directory server, such as enabling or disabling changelog. If you change the configuration of the Sun or Netscape directory server, you must refresh the management agent by using the Refresh button on the Configure Naming Context page of the management agent. For more information, see Configure naming contexts in the ILM 2007 FP1 Product Help.

Note this is not refreshing the schema this is refreshing the list of containers in the naming context (or partition)

  • One more thing it could be this (yes I know this an IBM link but it has some good info about Sun One/iPlanet)

"In Sun/iPlanet Directory Server 5.0, the format of the changelog was modified to a proprietary format. In earlier versions of iPlanet Directory Server, the change log was accessible through LDAP. Now the changelog is intended for internal use by the server only. If you have applications that must read the changelog, you will need to use the iPlanet Retro Change Log Plug-in for compatibility with earlier versions"
