SQL Management Pack on Cluster Generates Multiple Alerts RRS feed

  • Question

  • we have implemented the SQL Management Pack into our environment and are finding that when an alert is raised it is generated multiple times - essentially on each of the nodes in the cluster and the cluster name itself. We are using management pack 6.4.1.

A good example is the "IS Package Failed" alert. We have a package that failed and the alert comes through on the NODE hosting the SQL Instance at the time along with all other SQL Instances that are currently hosted on this cluster and active on the NODE.

how do we stop this ?we don't want to override the alert for other instances because they may have alerts that need to be detected but we only want to see the alert being raised against the instance that it runs within.

  • Hi

SQL management pack is not cluster aware, due to which SCOM see each node as an server and will generate an alert for each node

the discovery need to be changed to make monitoring more efficient
