HPOV connector - set different MessageGroup RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have Opsmgr 2007 R2 and HP Operations manager in our environment. we are forwarding alerts to HPOV, it's ok. But we would like to forward some specific alerts to HP operations manager with a "MessageGroup" name like "SQL_High" (the ones that are related with SQL) , some like "Windows_High", and some like "Application_High" and etc.. Is there any way to customize/set different "MessageGroup" names for different groups of alerts ?

    Regards.

  • Hi Ertugh,

the SCOM-Alerts are received on the HP side as if they had been created via opcmsg. So you can create an opcmsg-policy. In the rule's Condition Tab you could define a match on the group "SCinterop" which is the SCOM default. Then you can create your own message. Policy must eb deployed to the HP management server.

    hope this helps

P.S.: The idea of opcmsg-concept is only true for message creation. As soon as the Connector sends duplicates and you have activated Duplicates in HP the behaviour can be a bit confusing, because it seems that Connector's message updates are written to the DB directly without being processed by the policies.
