start -> shutdown reboots instead of shutdown, but shutdown -s does shutdown RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an issue with a POSready 2009 installation.  When we execute start->shutdown the system does a clean shutdown and after that immediatly restarts...    But if we execute 'shutdown -s' from a cmd box the system does a clean shutdown and stays that way (like it should).  Any clues on where to start looking?

  • If there is a blue screen during the shutdown process the system may be configured to automatically restart.  This can be disabled under Recovery on the Startup/Shutdown tab in the System properties.

  • Hello esteeve,

I had this issue, hope this helps. If Terry answer does not solve your problem, goto control panel, network conections, go to properties of the conection, goto Configure Adapter and disable Wake on LAN.
