Everytime I open IE a new Suggested Site gets created. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've used IE9 and IE10 and every time I close and reopen IE a new Suggested Sites gets created in my Favorites bar. The site is a link to nothing. The sites get saved to my C:\ drive at "Home Folder\Favorites\Favorites Bar" which is a pain to delete. I just noticed last week and I had over 200 Suggested Sites each 1KB in size. That's only 200KB, but what if I ran a script that open and closed IE 10000 times and did that 100 times in one day, they'd really add up. I went to Internet options and unchecked Use Suggested Sites but that did nothing. What is wrong with IE?! What registry setting do I need to change to make it stop?

No, I can't use a different browser because the sites I need to use say they do not support anything else except IE.

See what I mean. They'll just keep adding up.

  • Try the following suggestions.

    1. Go to your Favorites menu in Explorer (C:\Users\USERNAME\Favorites)

    2. Delete all of the desktop.ini files located within those folders and subfolders.
