Autocalculate On / Must Still Use F9 to Update Total Slack RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello -

I have a few files where the Total Slack value routinely shows a negative number. When I investigate and determine it's not a constraint or an incorrect link, I hit F9 in desperation and the negative number is updated to what I expect the value to be.

I have double-checked that auto calc is set to on in the Options in all of these files.

    I'm using MSP2010.

    Any insight?

    Thanks in advance!

  • If any of your tasks have deadlines, delete them.

  • EBBECC,

In addition to Trevor's suggestion, I'd also make sure your version of Project 2010 is fully updated. It should be version 14.0.7173.5000 which includes the Sept 2016 cumulative update. If you don't have that version, run Windows Update.

  • I haven't been able to re-create the non-autocalculate feature.  Trevor is right in the fact that Deadlines impact the total slack calculatin, but deleting them won't fix the your autocalc issue.

I cannot recreate this on MSP 2010 - here is a screen shot of my version number (which according to John means I'm bang up to date!)
