DPM Tape Job Freezing RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been using DPM 2007 SP1 for over 2 years and just recently (last 2 weeks) I have been experiencing DPM tape jobs just freezing. The data transferred just freezes in the middle of a tape job. There are no errors in the event viewer and it wont move out of in progress. I have to kill all DPM jobs in order to recover because when I cancel the job it just goes freezes there too.

Because there are no error codes I'm not sure how to troubleshoot. Please help! :) Thanks!

  • Hi,

Are you doing Disk to Disk to tape backups, or just Disk to tape backups ?

Try disabling TCP offloading on both the PS and the DPM Serevr - I have see backup jobs freeze do to that.

On Windows 2003 the command is: Netsh int ip set chimney DISABLED
On Windows 2008 the command is: Netsh int tcp set global chimney=disabled

There are a couple more alerts at the same time with the same basis of information. Thoughts?
