Why is there no Knowledgebase article for the just-released IE11 update KB3025390? RRS feed

  • Question

  • The KB link shown in the Windows Update page for my Windows 7 x64 Enterprise machine does not find a page for that KB article. What exactly are we patching? What is it supposed to fix?

  • I assumed that if I search TechNet then I would find KB3025390 but I do not. Even now, when I search TechNet for KB3025390 or 3025390 I do not get it.

    this link is now loading the KB article for me (located in Australia)

  • Ditto, I searched everywhere. Very strange.  In one search I found some Germans discussing the same issue. No solution yet.  We should not install until we verify it is not a hack of some sort.

    I'd say that there is some kind of "delay" in the KB article publishing cycle at MSFT, I've seen this before.

    There is some (typically not very detailed) information in the MUcatalog for this patch

  • I was also having a problem with a C# Windows Forms program that uses a WebBrowser control. It was getting an Access Denied for an IHTMLDocument2 in a frame in the document in the WebBrowser control. The program was working before the KB3025390 today. It now works as before after uninstalling KB3025390.

    Since you re replying to me, note that the fix results in breaking much more than it is intended to fix.

  • But I must ask.

    Presumably support2 is for the people too intelligent to settle for whatever answer is (or is not) in support....?

  • Hello from japan, I've been in trouble, just like you. (jp-Forum)

    In my case, Windows 7 + Access VBA + IE11, also an Access Denied in a frame after installing the KB3025390, and it resolved with uninstalling.

    I made a reproducible prototype;

    [test.vbs]

    Set objIE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
    objIE.Visible = True

    objIE.Navigate "(full path)\hello.html"
    WScript.Sleep 3000

    '******* It works good
    objIE.Document.All("btn1").Click

    objIE.Navigate "(full path)\frameset.html"
    WScript.Sleep 3000

    '******* it will fail "Access Denied" after installing the KB3025390
    objIE.Document.Frames.Item("frame1").Document.All("btn1").Click

    [hello.html]
    <html><body>
      <input id="btn1" type="button" value="Hello" OnClick="alert('Hello World')">
    </body></html>

    [frameset.html]
    <html><frameset rows="20%,*">
      <frame id="frame1" src="hello.html">
      <frame id="frame2" src="about:blank">
    </frameset></html>
    Please help us, thank you.
