  • Hi,

When you are importing an excel sheet you need to provide a list name not already existing.

In the other way you can choose the option of edit in datasheet for the list and then you can copy entire contents of the excel sheet and then you can just paste it to the list and it will work for you.

I hope this will help you out.

    Thanks,

  • Hi ,

I am doing by these 2 links only. 1st i got a error which is mentioned in 1st  blog ,i resolve tht after that while importing i am facing this issue(dialogue box-the specified list name is already in use on this server .you must rename the list before publishing it to the server.) .

i tell you exact steps which i did-

    i created a list in moss 2007 name ImportList, 4 columns-names(rename to title),PS Numbers(numbers field),old comment(multiple lines),new comment(multiple lines),only old comments is optional rest all fields are mendatory.

i have excel in my local(D drive)having columns-name ,psnumber, old comment and some more n different column.

My require ment is when someone enter data in sharepoint list he can left old comment column as i want this column should be import from my excel sheet column old comment.

i follow steps in given blog- first i get lOWSPostData failed error i resolved this by given steps ..n continue with my excel selection but as i click on import i got this dialogue box msg(mentioned above).

Please guide what to do ?

    Thanks for your help.
