---How to populate Infopath form from Sharepoint Library? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everybody,

I have a file folder in a library. I need to make it work like that:

    1. In the InfoPath form the user enters the name of that Folder

    2. The InfoPath form gets populated with the whole list: all the fields

Is there a way to do it painlessly?  :)

    Thank you!

  • Hello,

The only option you would have is to setup your Submit data connection to email the library and have the folder name as the subject line.  This will put the attached InfoPath form into the folder you users have designated.  This is not an ideal situation though.  Why do you have to have folders?

  • So every folder will have the transmittal and only files that that are correspond to this transmittals.

  • Why not use a choice column and have one of the values be, "Transmittals" ?  Then you can specify the Transmittal value as part of the publishing process or via workflow.  You could also look at using a document set, since document sets can also have metadata values.

  • I'll try to do that too.

But I've managed to set the data connection in Infopath from SP library. But when I add it to the text field - nothing happens. Out of all the fields it works with only one (versions). I wonder what can be the problem?
