Windows 7 Spoolsv.exe service at 50% (standard fix not working) RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I have a Win 7 32bit machine that the spoolsv.exe process is at 50%.

I have already been thru the standard process of stopping the service, remove the printers folder from windows\sys32\spool and restart the service. When I print after that the spoolsv.exe service goes back to 50% and printing is slow.

I have used this fix in the past with great results on XP machine, but this is the first Win7 I have had with this issue.

Also, in that printers folder there was nothing listed there. I dont remember if this is normal or not. I remember there being a couple of files there and thats what causes the issue.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

    Steve

  • Looking at the machine now, its less than .01% CPU usage.

I sent a test print and the CPU usage went to 50% then back down to 0%.

I think its fine now. Thanks for the help.

  • Hi.

Try to install http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653 to check what is the service load the CPU to 50%.
