Error Code 800703F1

    Question

  • I have not been able to update my computer or play certain games due to this error code 800703F1.

I tried running a clean boot with no success, so I opened a command prompt as admin and ran a scannow and my components hive is corrupt. I am not sure how to fix it, so I was hoping someone on here could help me. I converted it into a cbs file, but I'm not sure how to upload it onto here. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

  • Hi KimchiDunk,

What is the exact error message when this issue occurred?
Were there any error message recorded in Event View when issue occurred?

For Windows Update issue, we could run the built-in troubleshoot tool to have a diagnostic.
Path : Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\All Categories Windows Update

Try to clear the update cache and repeat the windows update process to have a test. Rename the SoftwareDistribution folder to clear the update cache (path: c:\windows\ SoftwareDistribution).
If the issue persists, try to manually reset Windows Update components, click this link tor detailed steps.

For your question about upload CBS log, you could upload the log to OneDrive and paste the link here. Beside CBS log, Windows Update log is also useful. Please also upload it.
    Path: C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log

    Best regards

  • Hi Rick, thanks for the help.

The troubleshooter did not work, It would not let me rename the SoftwareDistribution folder (could not rename folder; folder is open in another location) and the manual reset said it fixed some issues, but I still could not update my windows.
