  • Hi Craig,

It seems the computer in question doesn't able to contact the Wsus server  (cPS-svr-001) using the port 8530 (that's why you are seeing the error message in the logs "Misc WARNING: DownloadFileInternal failed for http://cPS-svr-001:8530/selfupdate/wuident.cab: error 0x801901f7
     2016-05-17 12:21:10:916").

Most possible reason could be your system proxy is either configured wrongly or not configured. You can try to use the command "netsh winhttp show proxy" to identify which proxy has set. Try "netsh winhttp import proxy source=ie" to import settings from IE. You may also need to add the appropriate proxy exceptions to bypass proxy for internal network communications. Let me know how it goes.

    Thanks,

    Abhilash

  • Hi Craig Addo,

In addition, please check if you can ping the WSUS server and telnet port 8530 between WSUS server and WSUS clients.

Also test resetting windows update component on client:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/971058

Run server cleanup wizard and reindex WSUS database on server:

    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd939795%28v=ws.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

    Best Regards,

    Anne

  • Hi Abhilash,

I can actually download the http://cps-svr-001:8530/selfupdate/wuident.cab file manually from a browser, so I am not sure why it is saying this error!

  • Also, not using a proxy.

    Thanks.
