Using sysprep with SteadyState (Active Desktop error) RRS feed

  • Question

  • After re-imaging several computers with an image prepared with sysprep, my coworker and I have discovered that one account which was locked prior to running sysprep cannot be unlocked without causing an Active Desktop error.  Specifically, after the account is unlocked one cannot log into it without getting the error:

"Internet Explorer cannot find the Active Desktop HTML file.  This file is needed for your Active Desktop.  To turn of Active Desktop, click OK."

Would this be caused by the fact that the account had been left in a locked state and the SID was changed by sysprep when it ran the mini-setup to reseal the computer?
