Surface project/item templates in VS 2010?

  • I know that the answer to this question will be "The Surface SDK does not yet support Visual Studio 2010", but:

It seems like building Surface projects in VS10 works just fine, provided you target .NET 3.5. Is there a way to get the project/item templates to show up in 2010 as well? I tried just copying the project template file to C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates\CSharp\Surface\v1.0\WpfSurfaceApplication.zip, but it doesn't show up in the new project dialog.

  • Hi

try to copy the templates in Templates folder of vs10, you must create folder "Surface" and "v1" like this to have the same tree on the new project dialog.

    C:\Users\[YOU] \Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Templates\ProjectTemplates\Visual C#\Surface\v1

    C:\Users\[YOU] \Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Templates\ItemTemplates\Visual C#\Surface\v1

    Then copy the differents templates:

    \ItemTemplates\Visual C#\Surface\v1\WpfSurfaceCustomControl.zip

    \ItemTemplates\Visual C#\Surface\v1\WpfSurfaceUserControl.zip

    \ItemTemplates\Visual C#\Surface\v1\WpfSurfaceWindow.zip

    \ItemTemplates\Visual C#\Surface\v1\WpfTagVisualization.zip

    \ProjectTemplates\Visual C#\Surface\v1\WpfSurfaceApplication.zip

    \ProjectTemplates\Visual C#\Surface\v1\XnaGS3SurfaceApplication.zip

    \ProjectTemplates\Visual C#\Surface\v1\XnaSurfaceApplication.zip
