SCVMM Licensing RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Guys,

I've about 10 physical Hyper-V servers, Each contains 20 windows 7 virtual machines and are used for VDI, We have 200 ECAL (Enterprise Client Access License), Now we are going to implement SCVMM (System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2),

Can we use ECALs to manage VMs in SCVMM? If not which license is required?

I've read all documents in this regard, But I need someone has experience.

    This is an urgent case

    Thanks in advanced.

As for licensing issue , we would suggest you to contact with MS :

  • Hi,

your 200 ECALs include 200 SCVMM for Clients (wind 7).it means that you don't need to purchase separatly System Center configuration Manager Client licenses which includes SCVMM.

however, if you want to manage your Servers OS than you need to purchase the System Center Server Management license for each physical Server with up to 2 CPUs for up to 2 VMs.

for confirmation and more Details, please contcat Microsoft licensing support in your Region.

    thanks
