moving project 2010 draft data and log file

    Question

  • Hi All,

i got a project server 2010 draft data and log file that is grovn big and i want to move the files to datadrive.

can i just dtétact the database, move the files and attach the database again using sql server manager? or do i need to be avware of the other databases or stop users to access the solution while doing moving the files?

    regards

  • The easiest thing to do is manage your SQL server databases.

    1) Shutdown SharePoint Farm

    2) Backup both the content and log databases.  Its required when shrinking database and cleaning log files

    3) Shrink databases and log files.   You will then get a lot of space back.

    or if you are carefully

    a) dismount database from SQL server

    b) delete the log file

    c) mount database again and SQL will create a new log file.
