Disable Folders thumbnails only not files RRS feed

  • hello
    i was wondering if anyone knows any tricks or registry settings i could use
    to stop vista from generating thumbnails for folders "live folders" but keep
    them enabled for files

    ive reached the end of the road here im managed to put up with the other
    annoyances of vista but this one is one too many

    Hi Sem-uk, I'm afraid the setting in Windows Vista cannot fully meet your request as the file and folder thumbnails can only be enabled or disabled together.  I suggest you check the following group policy and see if they can help:


    1.       Click Start, type gpedit.msc in Start Search and press enter.

    2.       Locate the following policy:


                User Configuration | Administrative Templates | Windows Components | Windows Explorer


    3.       You can try to enable the following two policies:


                Turn off the display of thumbnails in Windows Explorer

    Turn off the display of thumbnails and only display icons on network folders
